What are the advantages of dental bonding?
Dr. Roubal uses dental bonding not only as an excellent way to repair decayed teeth, but also to repair and reshape disfigured or worn teeth that need to be whitened or have chips or cracks filled. A large advantage of tooth bonding is that the material used bonds directly to the teeth and expands and contracts the same way natural teeth do in your mouth. Unlike silver amalgam fillings that require the tooth to be deeply drilled for placement, dental bonding requires only a small amount of the tooth to be drilled in order for it to be bonded.
How does dental bonding work?
Dental bonding is performed by first abrading the tooth so that the composite resin can be fully bonded. Then, the composite resin is carefully applied to the tooth, shaped, smoothed, and finally it is hardened using a special, high intensity light. Once the composite has hardened, Dr. Roubal will polish the tooth so that it resembles the teeth around it. Teeth will be matched in shape and color to create a dazzling new smile.
